Setting New Records! Suzhou Zhibang Secures Another Order for a 250 m³ LNG Fuel Tank for Ocean-Going Vessels and Has Officially Commenced Construction.
Release Date:
2024-05-31
Following the successful delivery of four 250 m³ vacuum‑insulated LNG fuel tanks for offshore vessels in December 2023, Suzhou Zhibang Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Suzhou Zhibang”) promptly secured another order from Shanghai Kairun Gas Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Kairun Gas”) for four identical units. Production officially commenced recently at Suzhou Zhibang’s facility, with a delegation of five—including Kairun Gas executives Mr. Li and Mr. Jiang—joining Suzhou Zhibang General Manager Ye Yong, Sales Director Yu Kai, and others to attend and witness this significant milestone. This marks another crucial step forward for Suzhou Zhibang in the field of LNG fuel tanks for deep‑sea vessels, contributing to the overseas implementation of initiatives aimed at green, low‑carbon energy transformation and sustainable, low‑carbon transportation.

The project team led by Ye Yong, General Manager of Suzhou Zhibang, held a technical exchange with a delegation of five, including Mr. Li and Mr. Jiang from Kai Ren Gas.

Kairun Gas’s 250 m³ LNG vacuum fuel tank has officially commenced construction.
Kai Ren Gas is an EPC company specializing in gas‑energy equipment, actively serving both domestic and international shipbuilding and offshore markets. It provides the global market with expert services in the technical development, equipment integration, and engineering construction of FGSS dual‑fuel systems for ships, as well as marine liquid‑tank and cargo‑handling systems for LPG, LEG, and LNG vessels. According to a report by International ShipNet on April 11, 2022, Kai Ren Gas has, for the first time, signed a supply contract with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group for the fuel‑gas supply systems (FGSS) of two 7,500 m³ liquefied carbon dioxide carriers. Each vessel will be equipped with two 250 m³ LNG tanks on deck—four such tanks that Suzhou Zhibang delivered in December 2023—enabling the ships to operate throughout their entire voyage in European waters using LNG as fuel. The shipbuilding contract was previously concluded between Norway’s Aurora Company and DSIC, with the vessel flying the Norwegian flag and classed by DNV. To date, it is the largest‑capacity specialized vessel known to have been contracted for transporting liquefied carbon dioxide, designed specifically to support marine carbon capture and storage. The ship will be deployed under Europe’s carbon capture and storage initiative, collecting CO₂ generated by European industries, transporting it to receiving terminals along Norway’s west coast for processing, and then injecting it into subterranean reservoirs at a depth of 2,600 meters for permanent sequestration, thereby helping to reduce CO₂ emissions across Europe.

The four 250 m³ LNG vacuum‑insulated fuel tanks delivered by Suzhou Zhibang in 2023 are currently being installed at the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company’s installation site.
